DDI is regularly employed as a ductwork contractor to engineer, manufacture and install ductwork as part of a large scale building project. DDI acts as a specialist contractor under the banner of a mechanical services or building contractor.
Manchester Airport
Substantial refurbishment of Terminal 1, Arrivals and Departures, both land and air side, requiring high level security clearance. This project was designed by the building consultant in conjunction with the Airport Authority then the scheme was developed by DDI on behalf of the mechanical services contractor, to ensure it fitted within the working constraints of the building fabric and operations.
Littlewoods Skyways Development
This project was completed in 2005 but was a very interesting scheme to be involved with as it was in essence a ‘building within a building’, a first for DDI & perhaps all involved. Also, the building was a 1939 aircraft hanger at the original Liverpool Airport which was designed by Barnes Wallis, the famous World War 2 aviation engineer. It was therefore a requirement of the job to be sympathetic to the original structure whilst planning a modern and efficient ductwork system.
